Fibre in Greece in numbers

The ΧΕΜΔ registry holds 2,820,665 fibre building records from 8 network providers, in 185 municipalities. The largest network is Telekom. A building on two fibre networks counts once for each, so the total is not a count of distinct buildings.

How do we count?

Fibre buildings are the FTTH/B coverage points that network providers declare to ΧΕΜΔ. The network provider owns the infrastructure, and is not necessarily the one selling you the connection. Totals add providers up, so a building on two networks counts twice. We give no coverage percentage, because we do not have the total number of buildings in each municipality.

Cabinets come from ΧΕΜΔ (copper cabinets and fibre points) and from the fttx.gr community. The team reviews every cabinet someone adds before it appears, and we do not accept a second cabinet of the same provider within 10 metres.

Distances on the map are straight lines. Cables follow streets and ducts, so the real line is longer. We refresh the ΧΕΜΔ data every month.
